Cube-Tec summary of the FIAT/IFTA World Conference

In October 2019 the FIAT/IFTA World Conference took place in the picturesque city of Dubrovnik, Croatia at the Adriatic Sea. The conference was hosted by the public broadcaster HRT.

Cube-Tec was sponsoring this important event and Tom Lorenz also contributed an aural presentation on how to build a complete integrated Archive Media Management system. The presentation was titled: „Building an integrated digital media archive and legal deposit“ and it is now freely available on slideshare.

Please contact Tom if you are planning to renew or require a MAM system which is optimized for preservation and access of legal deposits or other audio and audiovisual objects.

At the conference there was a very interesting presentation given by Hinnerk Gehrckens from the German Broadcasting Archive, titled „Broadcast archives and videotape cassation - a risk evaluation“. It becomes more and more accepted practices within public and private broadcasting archives that video tape master carriers will be destroyed after being migrated into a file based master. This raises the demand for a top level video tape quality migration process, which is optimized to find securely all migration related transfer issues. Cube-Tec has gone more than an extra mile to build such a QC procedure which combines automated QC methods on different levels to maximize the transfer issue detection. These methods are now integrated into the modular product packages QUADRIGAVideo and MXFLegalizer. You can check-out Hinnerk Gehrckens presentation also freely available on slideshare.
