Digitization and QC in a single step

Digitize 140.000 audio tapes containing 80.000 hours of audio recordings in highest quality in a timeframe of four years - that was the challenge swiss broadcaster RTS had for its service provider Vectracom. This challenge could have been met personnel-intensive, using experts in digital and analog audio.

Vectracom chose the elegant way and decided on Quadriga by Cube-Tec. Automated workflows, continuous quality control from the analog ingest machines up to the digital files, standardized transport of the audio content including metadata - strong plus points added to the transparency of the whole ingest process.

"By adding Calibration Inspector and using Trusted Playback as a cloud service, the archives - as owners of the content - are able to better supervise the quality of the digitization process. The digitization provider can use this one-of-a-kind technology to continually prove the quality of their work processes. It's a win-win situation", Tom Lorenz (Cube-Tec International GmbH) adds.

RTS and Vectracom decided on standardized transfer formats, created automatically by QUADRIGA and DOBBIN. This tremendously simplifies the integration of digital files, and a database interface for the external service provider is not needed.

From the start, the digitization workflow and the quality of its components were agreed upon, and those were certified then. During the digitization runs, automated quality checks of the Cube-Tec tools - like Calibration Inspector and the cloud-based Trusted Playback QC certification tool - ensure the consistently high service level of the machines. This project is another example of how the sophisticated Cube-Tec technology optimally supports effective digitization with intelligent workflow control.
