Jethro Tull Re-mastered and Surround UpMixed with AudioCube Technology

Without a doubt, Jethro Tull is one of the most popular and influential bands to emerge from Britain during the "music rich" 1970's.

The band's 40th anniversary was celebrated with a lengthy tour, which resulted in a new DVD - "Jethro Tull - Jack in the Green - Live in Germany" (Aviator Entertainment). In addition to live concert recordings, the DVD contains previously un-released material, which includes recordings from concerts and TV appearances between 1970 and 1993 - a real bonanza for Jethro Tull fans.

DVD mastering was handled by sound engineer Peter Kaminski at Hamburg's ‘Mastering & Surround Factory’. As usual, Peter's DAW of choice for this important project was the AudioCube from Bremens pro-audio specialist Cube-Tec International.

Mastering these extremely different sounding tracks has been a challenge, due to the 23 year time-span during which the material was recorded; a lot of different recording situations came into play. The biggest challenge indeed was to create a contemporary 5.1 surround format out of the monophonic TV source sound. This task was accomplished by using the highly optimized AudioCube ‘UpMix to Surround’ technology. The ‘UpMix to Surround’ module totally revealed its potential - which was confirmed by rave reviews of the astonishing picture and sound quality from the specialized press.
