Darcy Proper and Ronald Prent with new Loudness Maximizer Eight

Ten years ago Darcy started working with Loudness Maximizer Eight, the Cube-Tec Loudness Maximizer in the eight-channel version. At that time Darcy was working for Galaxy Studios in Belgium, and later she worked out of Wisseloord Studios in the Netherlands for many years. Proper Prent Sound has now relocated to the United States, where she is still working as an independent Mastering Engineer, now based at Valhalla Studios in Auburn, NY.

“Old loves die hard” as the German progressive rock group Triumvirat coined in 1976, and Darcy still wants the Loudness Maximizer Eight close at hand. Her husband and partner, Ronald Prent, is also now based at Valhalla Studios, still recording and mixing as he has for decades, while working with format-, hardware-, and software-developers to perfect new workflows for immersive audio formats.

The Loudness Maximizer has a unique character, giving the effect of apparent loudness while still retaining dynamic and movement in the track when used properly. I’ve tried it out on many different styles of music and have been surprised at how well its signature sound has worked on some unexpected material. While I have a selection of loudness tools and limiters and choose among them based on the project I’m working on, the Loudness Maximizer Eight is very often just the right tool for the job and I’m happy to have it in my arsenal."
