4th European QUADRIGA User Meeting

On March 17, 2010, the 4th European QUADRIGA User Meeting took place in Paris at INA, the National Archive of French Public Television and Radio Broadcasters.

The biennial QUADRIGA user meeting is a place to exchange knowledge and to meet colleagues and friends from all over Europe. It is also the place where new developments around QUADRIGA are exposed for the first time.

More than 20 participants from France, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands and Germany attended the meeting.

The hosts deserved the honor of the first lecture. Patrick Louvet explained how QUADRIGA and DOBBIN technology is used at INA to secure the quality level of audio digitization.

Ruedi Müller of Memoriav and Alexandra Rietmann of Swiss Radio DRS presented results from their comparison between a QUADRIGA with 4-times Import Modules and a station with only one single Import Module. Provided the tapes are longer than 30 minutes, the work is less boring for the operator and more efficient in terms of throughput.

Cube-Tec’s CTO Jörg Houpert uncovered in his presentation the newest developments direct from the labs, and Stefan Zachau presented live practical tips and tricks how to achieve best practice with QUADRIGA and DOBBIN.

4th QUADRIGA User Meeting

As INA is using QUADRIGA and DOBBIN technology since more than eight years now, it was a pleasure to host this QUADRIGA User Meeting. Personally I appreciated most the exchange of experience between Swiss and French archivists. Swiss Radio is using QUADRIGA also for many years now and they follow a different approach than INA – that makes the discussions so interesting. We are looking forward to the next QUADRIGA meeting in 2 years.
- Patrick Louvet (INA)

It is important, to stay in close touch with our user base. This way we receive a real feedback. User meetings are a great source to understand the needs of the market and the direction the business will take in future years. I am very happy to hear that our new developments are highly welcomed. During the meeting and also at our joint dinner we had a lot of time for fruitful personal discussions. All in all - a great day!
