Cube-Tec Team at IASA Conference in Riga

The International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) and the Baltic Audiovisual Archival Council (BAAC) announce the conference.

IASA

The conference will address themes associated with the tasks audiovisual archives are facing in a world undergoing rapid change. It is essential that archives develop new ways to meet future demands.

Analogue and digital collections will coexist for a while yet, depending on the resources made available for the preservation of analogue material, the digitisation process, and the management of digital content. Digitisation is now recognised as the way to go to save our audiovisual heritage, but the issues of future migration and the sustainability of digital archives still need to be addressed.

DeClipper - World Class Audio Repair for Pro Tools

Salvage a superb live take that might otherwise be lost forever.

Cube-Tec has released the DeClipper to the growing family of AudioCube VPI's (plug-ins) for the Digidesign Pro Tools platform.

For several years, the AudioCube version of DeClipper has been utilized by some of the world's most respected mastering and re-mastering facilities including Bernie Grundman Mastering, Capitol Studios, Universal Music and Smithsonian Folkways. Now the same tool is available to Pro Tools users (RTAS and AudioSuite, Mac only).

DeClipper is a powerful tool used to recover the loss of peak signals due to clipping from recording over full-scale digital ("digital overs").

Not only is the dynamic range of the original recording reconstructed; DeClipper also eliminates the distortion components and the aliasing spectrum that might be created, as clipped program often has square wave characteristics.

A level histogram and a de-clipping LED make it a snap to recognize clipped program, and a value field displays how much additional headroom would be required to restore the missing peaks. Using the "Level" fader you can create the headroom needed, and the algorithm will automatically calculate the shape that the waveform would have had, if no clipping had occurred.

The DeClipper is a unique sound restoration tool that allows a user to deal with the digital headroom problem simply and effectively, and keep that perfect guitar solo or amazing vocal take that might otherwise have been lost.

Other restoration tools now available from Cube-Tec for the Pro Tools platform include DeBuzz, DeCrackler, DeScratcher, RepairFilter and SpectralDeHiss.

If you'd like to get a trial license for your iLok key in order to try the DeClipper or other VPI's, please contact us.
