Digital Error Checker

- The Audio Firewall

DEC Collection
Digital Error Checker Collection

The Digital Error Checker checks audio files for typical errors that occur when converting analog audio material into a digital audio format. Such errors can be very costly if not detected in advance.

The Digital Error Checker is a powerful tool that analyzes and organizes a directory containing various audio files. A full report is generated for any, or all, of the analyzed audio files to get a clear overview of the problems contained within the audio material. The Digital Error Checker can be set to automatically monitor a particular location for new incoming files, so that any problems in the new data are detected immediately upon receipt.

An optimized EventPlayer is supplied for a closer acoustical inspection of any of the detected errors. The export of all error data, with exact timecode information as an XML file is supported, providing fully automated documentation and quality management.

Digital Errors

In addition to some irregularities which may occur during file transfer, digital errors such as clipping can occur within the digital audio chain, or when converting analog audio material into digital audio files. These errors include such occurrences such as Digital Zero in recordings of analog sources, Digital Clipping, Sample Holds, Jitter/Digital Clicks and Block Repeating. Block Repeating errors can occur in buffer and block orientated audio processing, which is common in most of the digital audio tools available today.

When these errors occur during digitization, or when audio material is delivered containing faults resulting from interference during transport, the costs to rectify these problems can be extremely high if the problems are not detected at the start of the normal workflow.
