AudioCube - In Depth
Signal Processing
The industry's most comprehensive selection of 24 bit / 192 kHz Mastering, Restoration and Analytical Tools - well over 40 at present - are available for the AudioCube platform. VPI's (Virtual Precision Instruments), which provide 64/32 bit floating point precision, are designed exclusively for the AudioCube dual processor system, and many include innovative features and capabilities not found elsewhere. In addition to the many Stereo VPI's, the AudioCube platform supports several multi-channel tools, including an 8-channel Compressor, EQ and Tape Emulation, as well as a powerful LFE Management Tool. DVD production tools include DTS and Dolby Digital / AC3 encoding & decoding, DVD-A authoring and WAVE to MLP file conversion.
The use of Native Signal Processing eliminates reliance upon DSP manufacturers for AudioCube advancements, and facilitates dynamic allocation of system processing power. A complete software development team provides a steady flow of new tools, along with an ongoing process of enhancing existing tools and system software.
All Virtual Precision Instruments (VPI's) are 24 bit / 192 kHz and internally calculate with up to 64-bit floating-point resolution (52-bit mantissa, 11-bit exponent), resulting in 52-bit resolution independent from the audio level. This quality is maintained throughout the system - even batch processing interim files are stored on the hard drive as 32 bit floating point files. Many VPI's include an "Audition" function which facilitates the monitoring of "processed signal elements" only and all VPI's utilize special algorithms to provide varying degrees of "adaptive processing".
Pyramix DSD / SACD on the AudioCube
The AudioCube base systems include the Merging Technologies Mykerinos DSP Board and the AES-DSD Daughter Card for audio I/O. The addition of Merging Pyramix software enables DSD mastering on the AudioCube system. For multi-channel DSD mastering it is necessary to install two additional Mykerinos Boards with Daughter Cards.
